A white Toyota Quantum minibus taxi overturned at the Misgund Interchange, where the N12 East meets the N1 North, leaving 16 passengers injured. The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) rushed to the scene of the devastating accident in Freedom Park, Devland, on Friday, March 28.
According to initial reports, the minibus was en route from Carltonville to Johannesburg’s bustling CBD when the tragedy struck. The impact left eight passengers with severe injuries, while another eight sustained minor wounds. Emergency responders swiftly transported all the injured to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention. Miraculously, the driver walked away unharmed.
Authorities are still piecing together the events that led to the crash, with a case of reckless and negligent driving now under investigation at the Eldorado Park SAPS.
