Donald Trump may have declared himself the picture of health following his latest physical, but a closer look at the official medical report reveals a detail raising eyebrows: the former president has been diagnosed with a precancerous skin condition.
According to a statement released by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, Trump underwent a comprehensive physical exam on April 11, 2025, at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The examination was conducted and overseen by Capt. Sean P. Barbabella, a physician at Walter Reed, who coordinated with 14 medical specialists to complete the evaluation in line with U.S. Preventive Services Task Force guidelines.
While Trump’s overall health was described as excellent, with normal heart function, clear lungs, and no neurological or cognitive concerns, the report did mention one notable finding: benign skin lesions identified as actinic keratosis (AK). These are rough, scaly patches caused by prolonged sun exposure and are considered precancerous. Though not immediately dangerous, AKs can potentially develop into squamous cell carcinoma a common form of skin cancer if left untreated.
The Skin Cancer Foundation estimates that around 10% of actinic keratosis cases progress into cancer, making early detection and monitoring essential. These lesions typically appear on sun-exposed areas such as the face, ears, and handsbcommon sites for AK in older adults.
Interestingly, the report also referenced a scar on Trump’s right ear from a past gunshot wound but found no other issues with his head, ears, nose, or throat. His hearing was deemed normal, and a CT scan of his chest confirmed that his lungs were healthy. Cardiac tests, including an EKG and echocardiogram, showed no irregularities.
Despite the mention of the precancerous condition, the summary emphasized Trump’s strong physical and mental performance, citing his active schedule, public appearances, and, notably, “frequent victories in golf events” as signs of vitality. The physician concluded that Trump remains fully capable of performing the duties of the presidency.
Still, some questions linger. The report did not address a noticeable bruise on Trump’s hand that was spotted during a recent meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, sparking speculation on social media.
Now 78, Trump holds the title of the oldest person ever elected to a first term as U.S. president. After completing nearly five hours of medical tests at Walter Reed, he emerged upbeat, telling reporters, “I did very well.” He also acknowledged the length of the appointment, adding, “I was there for a long time.” His comments follow recent discussions surrounding his noticeable weight loss and energy levels.
