In a fiery new statement, U.S. President Donald Trump stirred controversy once again by claiming that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy bears responsibility for the war with Russia. Speaking to reporters on April 14, Trump criticized Zelenskyy for provoking a nation far more powerful. “You don’t start a war against somebody that’s 20 times your size and then hope that people give you some missiles,” he said, taking a direct swipe at Ukraine’s ongoing pleas for Western military support.

Trump didn’t stop there. He also accused Zelenskyy of constantly seeking weapons and placed blame on both Russian President Vladimir Putin and former U.S. President Joe Biden for the ongoing conflict. “President Zelenskyy and Crooked Joe Biden did an absolutely horrible job,” Trump remarked, distancing himself from the war entirely. “I had nothing to do with this war,” he insisted, reinforcing his position that the crisis could have been avoided under different leadership.

The comments have reignited global debate over the origins of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with Trump’s remarks positioning him firmly against the current administration’s handling of foreign policy and Ukraine’s military strategy.
