Joe Biden didn’t waste any time going on the offensive. In his first big speech since stepping down as president, Biden delivered a blistering critique of Donald Trump’s latest moves in office accusing him of causing “so much damage” in less than 100 days.
Speaking at a disability rights conference in Chicago on Tuesday, Biden focused his criticism on the sweeping changes Trump’s administration made to the Social Security Administration, which have already pushed 7,000 workers out of their jobs.
“They’ve taken a hatchet to the Social Security Administration,” Biden said, visibly frustrated. “In less than 100 days, it’s amazing how much destruction they’ve caused.”
Biden warned that these cuts are already impacting millions of Americans who depend on Social Security to survive. With fewer employees to process claims and manage services, the system is reportedly under severe strain. He pointed out that the official Social Security website is crashing, leaving retirees unable to access the benefits they need just to make ends meet.
“These are people who rely on their Social Security checks to buy groceries and pay the bills,” he said. “For many of them, it’s their only source of income. Losing that would be devastating.”
The former president also took aim at Trump’s so-called “Department of Government Efficiency,” a controversial initiative backed by tech billionaire Elon Musk. The project, which promises to slim down government operations, has already triggered staffing cuts across federal agencies including Social Security.
As Biden addressed the serious consequences for vulnerable Americans, Trump fired back in his own way. He posted a short video clip on social media featuring one of Biden’s rambling moments no caption, no explanation, just a jab meant to go viral.
