Shri Thanedar over what she called a desperate and “idiotic” move to impeach President Donald Trump. The headline-grabbing moment came as Thanedar introduced articles of impeachment just months into Trump’s return to office an action Lake says reeks of political showmanship and panic within the Democratic Party.

Thanedar, who joined Congress in 2023, accused Trump of abusing executive power and interfering with congressional authority over federal spending. Thanedar cited a Supreme Court decision ordering the U.S. to help return a deported migrant to El Salvador as part of his impeachment rationale, but Lake brushed it off as political theater. She pointed to steep reductions in illegal crossings under Trump’s renewed border strategy, claiming a 93% drop in daily encounters and near-total shutdown of unlawful entries compared to numbers during the Biden administration.

“What about the fentanyl that’s not flooding across the border now?” she said. “What about the lives being saved? What about ending endless wars? Instead, this congressman wants to launch an impeachment sideshow in Trump’s first hundred days?”

With immigration once again dominating headlines and polling as a top voter concern, Lake framed Thanedar move as tone-deaf and poorly timed. She warned that voters are tired of partisan impeachment efforts that don’t deliver results.
